Summary Bio

Alan Lofaso has over 20 years of policy making experience in California state government. He currently serves as Chief Deputy to Board of Equalization Member Betty T. Yee. Prior to that position, Mr. Lofaso served as Chief of Staff to state Senator Carole Migden and Governmental Affairs Director for the California Public Utilities Commission. He is currently a member of the Sacramento City Planning and Design Commission. As a member of the 2009 Sacramento Charter Review Committee, he worked to draft several of the committee's key report recommendations.  Having worked for three state lawmakers and two executive branch agencies, Mr. Lofaso has developed major legislative enactments in the areas of health care, energy, taxation, and civil rights. He has also worked in several volunteer positions, including as a delegate to the California Democratic Party, holding the position of chair of the Legislation Committee.  He has served as controller and parliamentarian of the Democratic Party of Sacramento County and as vice president and political action chair of the Stonewall Democratic Club of Greater Sacramento.
