Bio

Pursuing a Juris Doctor degree and a Master of Business Administration at McGeorge School of Law and University of the Pacific, Cameron Burford's graduate education is a family affair.

His grandfather, Richard Burford, inspired him to invest his time and resources in his schooling. Richard grew up in poverty but prospered in academia and was able to use his smarts to elevate the Burford family out of poverty. "My grandfather worked hard his entire life to ensure that my family had everything that we needed. Using my education as a foundation, I hope that I can continue to build and provide for future generations of our family like he provided for me."

Cameron's parents farm wine grapes, almonds and blueberries. Growing up on a farm peaked his interest in land use law. His travels have also afforded him a global understanding of the agricultural industry. Cameron has traveled to China where he learned about the world power's agricultural industry and to Chile where he studied the country's agricultural export system. He also traveled to Washington D.C. to share the story of his family's farm with policy makers and to learn about U.S. agricultural exports.

Cameron chose to attend McGeorge because of its reputation and its dual degree program. Cameron appreciates the intimacy of the McGeorge campus and the support he gets from his peers. "Law school is tough, but when you are surrounded by good people, the experience is much more manageable. I have impeccable faith in the talent of my peers and their aptitude to wage successful careers and impact society."

Cameron hopes to find a job as a land use associate at a law firm that would provide him the flexibility to practice property law, business law and environmental law. Currently, he works in real estate development which he believes is the perfect marriage of his passion for the law and the land.
