Cliff Berg has widespread knowledge of the law and politics. He currently is President of Governmental Advocates, Inc., one of Sacramento's premiere lobbying firms. Mr. Berg joined Governmental Advocates in February 1995 as a senior lobbyist after spending 22 years working for the California Legislature, 11 as the Executive Officer of the State Senate. Prior to his appointment as Senate Executive Officer, Mr. Berg served as Chief of Staff to the President Pro Tempore and Senate Majority Leader.
As an attorney, Mr. Berg is accomplished in issues involving state budget, transportation, local government, tax law, technology issues, and tort reform. As an executive officer, Mr. Berg built a bi-partisan reputation as a legislative strategist and as a policy specialist with extensive knowledge of the legislature and the administration. In 1991 Mr. Berg was selected by the Council of State Governments as a Toll Fellow. Mr. Berg received his J.D. in 1979 from the Pacific McGeorge School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts from Occidental College in 1974. In addition to his legislative work, Mr. Berg is a Judge Pro Tempore in the Sacramento Municipal Court; Small Claims division.
