Professor Emily Garcia Uhrig has an extensive background in government service at the federal level. Her work as an attorney-advisor with the Office of Legal Counsel, U.S. Department of Justice; a trial and appellate Deputy Federal Public Defender in Los Angeles, Calif.; and as a staff attorney with the Ninth Circuit specializing in habeas corpus, has made her a prominent scholar in the area of habeas. In Summer 2012, Prof. Garcia Uhrig trained Chilean public defenders in the areas of client interviewing, client counseling and plea bargaining. Prof. Garcia Uhrig is a graduate of Stanford Law School and the University of Pennsylvania. During Summer 2013, Prof. Garcia Uhrig will teach the course on Comparative Criminal Procedure in the Americas.
