Mike Belote Endowed Capital Lecture Picking Cotton

The 2014 Mike Belote Endowed Capital Center Lecture featured a lecture and discussion with the authors of the New York Times best-selling book on the criminal justice system “Picking Cotton.” In a story that is both compelling and uplifting, this lecture and discussion explored where the criminal justice system helped the witness “get it wrong”. Jennifer Thompson and Ronald Cotton provided a riveting narrative of misidentification that results in a miscarriage of justice. Thompson and Cotton presented a deeply personal account that raises critical policy questions relating to witness identification in the criminal justice system. Read an article about the lecture and view a slideshow of photos.
