Passport to Practice
Interested in an exciting career in the law? Maybe just exploring how to make the most of your future? In either case, McGeorge is a great place to make that dream a reality.
What makes McGeorge different?
McGeorge students are forged through an unusually rigorous intellectual preparation process matched with high quality experiential training.
We take pride in the knowledge that our students are among the best prepared and most "practice-ready" of any US law school. In fact, our students spend significantly more time in class and with their professors than required by the ABA.
And our location in the capital city of California means there are innumerable opportunities to get 'real world' experience during their law school careers, through:
- Field Placements in regional, state and federal offices or courts;
- Serving in one or more of the campus Legal Clinics or community non-profits; and
- Participating on one of the law school's Trial Competition Teams — among the nation's most prominent and successful.
Additionally, McGeorge students hone their writing skills in our four semester Global Lawyering Skills program — one of the most comprehensive and career-centric writing programs in the nation and a model other schools are adopting.
McGeorge's 13-acre, green and wooded campus is dedicated to the study of law. Here you will be part of a community committed to your success. The law school is integrated into a diverse and eclectic community with the intimacy of a small liberal arts college (that happens to be dedicated to the law) yet with all the advantages of being in the city. On-campus housing also makes it possible for your immersion in the law to be complete.
Leadership in Law for the 21st Century
McGeorge prepares leaders — whether your career takes you across town, across the country, or around the world. McGeorge believes today's lawyers must know American law, but also have familiarity with international law, as our world becomes smaller and our borders less distinct. The law school inspired the 23-volume "Global Issues" series, which includes McGeorge faculty among its distinguished authors.
With nearly 13,000 alumni in all 50 states and in 58 countries around the world, you will join a network that literally spans the globe. No matter where you choose to go, the chances are you will find McGeorge alumni there making a difference - and ready to connect with you.
