Professor Gerald Caplan served as the seventh dean of Pacific McGeorge after a distinguished record in public administration and in academia. Among other government positions he served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney, General Counsel for the Metropolitan Police of the District of Columbia, Director of the National Institute of Justice, U.S. Department of Justice, President of the Legal Services Corporation, and Deputy Director of the Federal Trade Commission's Consumer Protection Bureau. Caplan serves on the Board of Directors for the Children's Law Center, and he is a member of California Department of Managed Health Care (DMHC) Autism Advisory Task Force. After building a reputation as a scholar in the field of criminal justice, his current research interests now also include contracts and the judicial process.
