Michael is a health care attorney who focuses on managed care litigation and government programs. He represents some of the largest health plans in California in matters involving Medi-Cal litigation, regulatory enforcement actions, and provider disputes. Michael advises clients on matters involving the actuarial Medicaid rate-setting process. He is also well versed in administrative law and procedure, having handled cases before several state agencies including the California Department of Health Care Services, the California Department of Managed Health Care, and the California Department of Insurance.
Michael graduated from McGeorge with Great Distinction and, while a student, helped found the California Initiative Review. After spending 10 years at Pillsbury and four at Wilke Fleury, on January 1, 2014, Michael and two partners started their own law firm specializing in health care and employment law. Kennaday, Leavitt & Daponde, or KLD, has nine attorneys. Michael lives in East Sacramento with his wife and two daughters. A native of Massachusetts, he is a life-long Red Sox fan.
