Professors Mary-Beth Moylan and Michael Vitiello brought their first-year Civil Procedure classes together for a Section A versus Section B challenge on Feb. 3, 2015.

Vitiello and Moylan served as judges at the Section A v. Section B Civil Procedure motion to dismiss for lack of personal jurisdiction challenge. Vitiello's section A was represented by Michael Elizondo and Brittney Barsotti. Moylan's Section B was represented by Sylvia La Rosa and Michelle Ahronovitz.

"Professor Vitiello and I collaborated on this challenge to introduce more skills training to the traditional Civil Procedure classroom," said Moylan, "and our students thoroughly enjoyed the experience."

This is only the first of several experiential assignments students will have this semester.  Apart from some short memoranda, they will engage in discovery exercises, and have additional opportunities to compete with the other section.  "It adds to students' workload," said Vitiello, "but these kinds of exercises bring the material alive."
