Professor George Gould, who retired from the McGeorge faculty three months ago, was honored in July at the 54 th Annual Rocky Mountain Mineral Law Institute in Aspen, Colorado.

Gould received the Rocky Mountain Mineral Law Foundation’s Distinguished Teaching Award for his contributions to students and academia in a legal education career that spanned more than three decades.

A noted expert on water law, Gould was associate dean at the University of Wyoming Law School before coming to McGeorge in 1984. A casebook he co-wrote, Cases and Materials in Water Law, now in its seventh edition, is used by many law schools throughout the country. Gould taught Property, Water Law, and Land Finance to thousands of McGeorge graduates.

The Rocky Mountain Mineral Law Foundation is an educational organization dedicated to providing scholarly research of the laws and issues affecting domestic and international mineral and water resources. Gould is a past president of the foundation and a long-time editor of its water law newsletter.
