Justice Anthony M. Kennedy of the Supreme Court of the United States will preside over a groundbreaking ceremony for the new McGeorge Legal Studies Center on September 18, 2009.

The $10 million LSC project, a major expansion and renovation of the Gordon D. Schaber Law Library scheduled for completion in 2011, is the largest facilities project ever undertaken at the Sacramento law school. It will change the face of the 13-acre campus, which has largely remained the same since the mid-1980s.

Justice Kennedy, who taught on campus from 1965 to 1988 and still teaches annually in the McGeorge Salzburg Summer Program, will attend a faculty luncheon following the morning groundbreaking ceremony then deliver a Constitution Day address to students in mid-afternoon.
