Professor Brian Landsberg made his second trip in three weeks, ninth in the last three years, to China in mid-August, speaking at a conference of the Committee of Chinese Clinical Legal Educators in Harbin. American University Professor Elliott Milstein, Pacific McGeorge Professor Jarrod Wong and Clemence Kucera, assistant director for Pacific McGeorge Center Activities.

Previously, Landsberg led a planning session, held from July 25-28 in Qingdao, which outlined the training activities to be conducted under Pacific McGeorge’s USAID Rule of Law phase II grant during the coming year. Professor Jay Leach, Wong and Kucera also participated, along with faculty from American University and several Chinese law schools.

Landsberg’s article, “Strategies to Increase the Availability of Skills Education in China,” appears in the new issue of the Pacific McGeorge Global Business & Development Law Journal (Volume 22, No. 1). The symposium edition contains papers from a January 2008 conference, “Experiential Education in China: Curricular Reform, The Role of the Lawyer and the Rule of Law.” Associate Dean Julie Davies’ article, “Methods of Experiential Education: Context, Transferability and Resources,” is among the other articles in the issue that detail the successful strategies employed in Pacific McGeorge’s participation in the original phase I $1.4 million USAID grant program launched in December 2006.
