Pacific McGeorge faculty were busy at the January 2009 Annual Meeting of the Association of American Law Schools in San Diego.

Professor Michael P. Malloy presented a paper, "Coordination, Cooperation and Harmonization: Utility and International Regulation," on January 9 at the conference’s hot-topic panel on the financial crisis. Later that day, he was a discussant at the AALS Financial Institutions and Consumer Financial Services Section’s luncheon that focused resolution of failing institutions. He then served as a commentator during a section panel, "Does Modern Financial Institution Regulation Work? Reflections on Deregulation and Internationalization of Supervisory Standards."

Professor Jarrod Wong presented his paper, “Misconstruing the Responsibility to Protect in the Wake of Cyclones and Separatism,” on January 7.  It was selected from a call for papers by the AALS Section on International Human Rights Law.

Professor Frank Gevurtz, the director of Pacific McGeorge’s Center for Global Business & Development, emceed the law school’s annual International Programs Breakfast on January 8. More than 60 international law professors from across the country attended the gathering to exchange views on current trends in international legal education.
