The McGeorge mock trial team advanced to the finals in the 2016 Buffalo-Niagara Mock Trial Competition, held Nov. 11-14 in Buffalo, NY. The team was narrowly defeated by one vote in the Championship Round, losing to Florida State University College of Law in a three-two split ballot.

This was the first mock trial competition for team members Mike Jones, Gage Marchini, Albert Mendoza and Leslie Shergill, who were coached by Keith Hill, '96, Thien Ho, '98. The invitational competition started with 36 teams from all over the United States, and the McGeorge team won seven consecutive rounds before advancing to the final round of two.  Mock Trial Director Cary Bricker observed that watching inexperienced students turn into excellent trial lawyers in a few weeks is what the Mock Trial program is all about.

The McGeorge mock trial team of Josh Hudson, Ashley Pane, Heather Phillips and Nicole Vera are competing in the National Civil Trial Competition Nov. 18-20, 2016, held at Loyola Law School in Los Angeles, CA. The team coaches are David Norton, '13, Jesse Saucedo, '11, Jason Schaff, '06.
