The McGeorge School of Law team of Anthony Abdelsayad and Anete Millers took second place in the UC Davis Asylum & Refugee Law National Moot Court Competition, held March 3-4, 2018.

Two McGeorge teams competed in the UC Davis event, and both teams advanced to the semi-final round and faced off against each other. The team of Abdelsayad and Millers narrowly beat their colleagues, Brittany Hart and Melody Aguilar, and advanced to the final round. Columbia Law School won the competition with McGeorge finishing in second place. Aguilar was named the second best oralist in the tournament.

The teams were coached by Professor Mary-Beth Moylan, Associate Dean for Experiential Learning, and Professor Blake Nordahl. Callie Buck was the student coach.

"Anthony, Anete, and Brittany are all evening students with day jobs, and Melody is doing a full time judicial externship this semester, as well," said Associate Dean Moylan. "The achievement of these students is all the more impressive when you consider the enormous other commitments that they were balancing while simultaneously preparing for this competition. I was so proud to watch them shine this weekend."
