The McGeorge mock trial team advanced to the finals in the 2016 California Attorneys for Criminal Justice Trial Advocacy Competition, held Oct. 13-16 in San Francisco, sponsored by the CACJ and UC Hastings.  One of the team's advocates, Nia Traylor, won the George Porter Best Advocate in the Final round.

When a team member had to drop out of the competition four days before it started, Michelle Ahronovitz agreed to try both sides of the case, prosecution in the morning and defense in the afternoon.   Having spent only four days preparing for her role as prosecutor, Michelle, together with her fellow team members Nia Traylor, Alex Smith and Brittany Berzin, advanced through the quarter and semi-finals, losing in a split ballot final round to Whittier Law School.  McGeorge came in second in a playing field that started with 22 teams.

Veteran coaches Jeff Schaff, '09, and Alan Donato, '09, coached the team, assisted by Tiffany Wynn, '13.
