Twenty students have been named to the 2009-2010 Pacific McGeorge Mock Trial Competition Team, which will represent the law school in national intercollegiate competitions this academic year. The selections were made following a series of tryouts open to all students.

Juliet Cho, Will Jackson, Cathleen Penney and Kate Rankin comprise the San Diego Defense Lawyers team that will travel to the south state for that (October 22-24) event. Diane Coderniz, Robert Rice, Jesse Saucedo and Colleen Villarreal form the team for the California Attorneys for Criminal Justice tournament (October 22-25).

Kim Bowman, Chris Chin, Lauren Layne and David Wiksell will compete in the 8th annual National Civil Trial Competition (November 12-14) in Los Angeles. Nikole McQuillan, Matt Robinson, Matthew Taylor and Ray Thomas form the law school’s entry for the 30-team University of Buffalo’s national Buffalo-Niagara Mock Trial Tournament (November 22-25). The fifth quartet, which includes Melissa Greenidge, Jennifer Kishimizu, April Matsinger and Ada Tsai, will compete in another event.

In the spring, Pacific McGeorge will defend its regional title in the Texas Young Lawyers Mock Trial Competition and send teams to the Association of Trial Lawyers of America’s event. The law school will also host the Fifth Annual National Ethics Trial Competition, sponsored by Dreyer Babich Buccola and Callaham, LLP, in mid-March.

Professor Cary Bricker directs the mock trial team with the able assistance of alumni coaches Jamie Pearson, ’02, Matt Pearson, ’03, Leland Washington, ’01, Brandon Takahashi, ’06, Tim Balcom, ’97, Jake Flesher, ’00, Jason Schaff, ’06, Thien Ho,’98, and Rashaan Jones, ’07.
