Mock Trial Teams are Off and Running with their Inaugural Intra-squad Competition

This year, McGeorge's nationally ranked mock trial program developed a summer "training camp" to help new and returning competitors learn and develop trial skills. Over the course of six weeks, students were given a fact pattern based upon the Michael Vick dog fighting case. Students were assigned to four different teams, received hands-on training by seasoned litigators, and then competed on Aug. 13 in an intra-squad competition that showcased their skills and refined their trial techniques.

The team of 16 second-, third- and fourth-year students include returners Michelle Ahronovitz, Kyle Chin, Josh Hudson, Ashley Pane, Heather Phillips, Alex Smith, Nia Traylor and Nicole Vera, and new team members Kathryne Althizer, Brittany Berzin, Mike Jones, Gage Marchini, Alyssa Malinoski, Albert Mendoza, Leslie Shergill and Kelli Tong. Their coaches are all former Mock Trial stars: Alan Donato, '09; Teal Erickson, '13; Keith Hill, '96; Thien Ho, '98; Courtney Martin, '13; David Norton, '13; Jesse Saucedo, '11; Jason Schaff, '06; and Jeff Schaff, '10.

After training camp and the intra-squad competition, the 2016-2017 Mock Trial team members are energized and eager to represent McGeorge throughout the country in fall competitions ranging from San Francisco to Montgomery, Alabama to Manhattan.
