The Pacific McGeorge Moot Court Competition Team wrapped up its season with a second-place finish at the Roger J. Traynor California Appellate Moot Court competition, which was held April 13-14 at the University of California, Berkeley School of Law.

Third-year students Ashley Porter and Kevin Quade teamed with second-year student Courtney Martin to take second behind the host school in the voting for the Bernard E. Witkin Award for Excellence in Appellate Advocacy. Porter was recognized for her "outstanding oral advocacy" in the competition. Professor Adrienne Brungess, '96, and Nirav Desai,'04, coached the team.

It was the sixth straight year that Pacific McGeorge has finished in the top three in the competition, including two outright victories. The tournament is open to all California law schools. Hastings, Golden Gate, USF and Western State were among the participants.

The Roger J. Traynor California Appellate Moot Court Competition, which is named for a former chief justice of the state Supreme Court, was founded and run for nearly 30 years by the California Young Lawyers Association of the State Bar of California. The Witkin Legal Institute and Thomson/West Publishing are the current sponsors.
