Professor Fred Galves wrapped up the third year of his Street Law International course the weekend of April 11-12, 2009, with an on-campus mock trial for participating high school students and an awards banquet at Arco Arena.

The Street Law program gives law students the opportunity to teach legal subjects and practical legal skills to local high school students. McGeorge students hold twice-weekly sessions at nearby Sacramento High School throughout the spring semester.

Veteran Sacramento Kings guard Bobby Jackson was one of the celebrities who participated in the mock trial on Saturday, April 11. After Sunday’s awards banquet, the students were recognized on the court prior to the Kings’ regular-season final home game against the San Antonio Spurs.

J.D. students Selina Ayala-Patlan, Juliet Cho, Ron Darbee, Dirk Anthony Daza, Heather Gibbons, Robert Rice, Dustin Saiidi, Ray Thomas and Jennet Zapata were involved in the program this year along with LL.M. students Victor Copeland and Lakeisha Hood. Thirty-four Sacramento High students took part in the program this year.
