A McGeorge team battled the nation's best in the national finals of the 33rd Annual National Trial Competition on March 26-29 in Austin, Texas.

Bret Wasley and Jeffrey Schaff acquitted themselves well in preliminary round matches against Baylor, Campbell and Notre Dame, but were unable to advance to the championship round in the elite 28-team field. Wasley and Schaff had won a regional title the previous month to qualify for the national finals. Chicago-Kent, which earlier in the month won McGeorge's National Ethics Competition, won the NTC title. The University of New Mexico was the runner-up with Faulkner University finishing third. The National Trial Competition is sponsored by the Texas Young Lawyers Association and the American College of Trial Lawyers.
