Mediator Pauline Nguyen With Mediation Clinic Students

Housing Mediation Clinic

The Housing Mediation Clinic is part of an innovative California Housing Court project funded by the 2009 Sargent Shriver Civil Counsel Act. The Clinic provides free housing mediation services for landlord/tenant disputes where at least one party qualifies for pro bono representation. Mediation is becoming an increasingly important skill for lawyers to have, and Pacific McGeorge law students have an invaluable experiential learning opportunity to conduct mediations.

Clinic students learn about landlord/tenant law and mediate landlord/tenant cases under the joint supervision of Clinic Director Melissa Brown and Pauline Nguyen, an experienced mediator hired under the Shriver Act grant.

Before joining the McGeorge community, Pauline Nguyen, Supervising Attorney & Mediator, Housing Mediation Center/Clinic, served as a law clerk to the Honorable Socrates Peter Manoukian of the Santa Clara County Superior Court. Ms. Nguyen has been invited to present at various community educational workshops and has conducted California MCLE trainings for volunteer pro bono attorneys on landlord-tenant law. Ms. Nguyen also remains an active volunteer mediator for the Santa Clara County Office of Human Relations. Ms. Nguyen's professional experience includes being a supervising attorney for the Katharine and George Alexander Community Law Center's Workers' Rights Clinic, clerking for law firms, handling casework and providing support for a Congressional Office, and interning for the Communications department at the California State Department of Education.

Ms. Nguyen received her B.A. in English and Political Science from the University of California, Davis and her law degree from Gonzaga University School of Law.
