Stress Relief Week

Are midterms stressing you out? Relieve some stress and take a well-deserved break at events throughout the week! Stress is a major issue in law school (and life!), and we here at McGeorge want to make sure that our fellow students know that there are many different ways to relieve it.

The SBA Wellness Committee and the Office of Student Affairs will be hosting events Monday through Monday with various different stress busting techniques.

Monday, Oct. 23 — Mellow Monday

Gardening and Tea Time in the McGeorge Garden | 8 a.m. to 9 a.m.
Salsa Making in the McGeorge Garden | 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Gardening, getting fresh air, and being around nature can all help to relieve stress, so join us in the garden to adopt a plant, help garden, or brew some tea with fresh herbs. In the evening, join Maria to make fresh salsa with healthy home-grown vegetables.

Tuesday, Oct. 24 — Meditation and Tea Time Tuesday

Guided Mediation in the McGeorge House | 8:40 a.m. to 9 a.m.
Tea Time in the Student Center | 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

For thousands of years people have used meditation to move beyond the mind's stress-inducing thoughts and emotional upsets into the peace and clarity of present moment awareness. First thing in the morning, Rebekah Grodsky will lead a guided meditation session. Everyone is welcome to attend, including those who have never tried meditation before.

Drinking tea can help your body relax and process stress. We'll have an assortment of teas and hot water available in the Student Center all day — come help yourself! (Consider saving a tree and bringing your reusable mug!)

Tuesday, Oct. 25 — Meditation and Wicked Wellness Walk Wednesday

Wicked Wellness Walk to Curtis Park | 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m.
Guided Mediation in the McGeorge Hous | 5:40 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Suit up in your Halloween costume and take a short walk over to Curtis Park! Lunch will be provided for those who RSVP, spooky decorations and piñatas will be waiting at the park for a fun, stress-busting break from school. Please RSVP to mcgeorgewellness@gmail.com so we can order you food!

In the evening, join classmates for a short guided meditation with Rebekah Grodsky to de-stress at the end of your day, or to get centered before your evening class. For thousands of years people have used meditation to move beyond the mind's stress-inducing thoughts and emotional upsets into the peace and clarity of present moment awareness. Everyone is welcome to attend, including those who have never tried meditation before.

Monday, Oct. 30 — Therapy Dog Monday

Therapy Dogs on the Quad | noon to 1 p.m.
Therapy Dogs on the Quad | 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.

At lunch and in the evening, spend some time with the ultimate stress relievers: dogs! These dogs are trained therapy dogs, and they will be on campus to bring a fluffy, fuzzy, happy end to Stress Relief Week.

All Week, Oct. 30 — Music-Sharing Extravaganza

The stress-relieving power of music is well-established. Find new music and share your favorite tunes on the McGeorge Wellness Spotify by adding to one of our collaborative playlists, or creating and sharing one of your own. The possibilities are endless!

Stress Relief Week is brought to you by the McGeorge Office of Student Affairs and the Student Bar Association. We'd also like to thank the University of the Pacific, Sacramento Campus Community Garden, Bon Appetit, the Legal Music Society, and Lend A Heart Lend A Hand Animal-Assisted Therapy for supporting this event.
