JD Applicants

Speak with a Pacific McGeorge representative at your school.

First-Year Student GuidesNot too long ago, we were in your shoes, thinking of applying to law school.
So we know you have a million questions starting with what's a JD? What's an LLB? How are those degrees different from an LLM?

Let's start with the JD and the LLB. When a student completes a law school program, the student receives a Juris Doctor (JD) if they complete a program in the U.S., or a Legum Baccalaueus (LLB) if they complete a program outside of the U.S. Essentially, there is no difference between the two degrees except where you completed law school.

Some students, however, choose to further their legal education and pursue a Masters of Laws (LLM) or a Doctor of Juridical Science (JSD) degree.

Pacific McGeorge offers not only a JD degree, but also LLM and JSD degrees!

If you're new to law school, you'll probably be most interested in web pages for future JD students. If you have completed (or are about to complete) a JD or LLB, you might be more interested in other programs available from Pacific McGeorge. These programs can be especially exciting because of the opportunity to work closely with experts among our faculty, in the more focused area of study you select.
